Actually, AFU did pull out, but by choice though, they were one of the two dynamic duos floating this idea. I think it was partially because they thought they were as big(in stature) as the other clubs and wanted to drive things. Well I heard it from two diff DOCs. One from the big 5 and one from not the big 5. Also all the other clubs not from the big 5 have formed an alliance...and they also excluded AFU. AFU has made too many enemies and now they are in their own island by themselves Soccermom, You and Futsal Gawdess kill me! You guys are always chock full of information and have entertained me with the way you deliver it. So AFU is odd man out of both sides? And there will be some more announcements regarding other things about soccer in the area? Seems like we have enough drama here for 10 years of soccer. New SCCL, new Piedmont Division of US Youth Soccer National League (formerly known as SRPL/RPL but with North Carolina instead of Florida with Georgia and South Carolina), teams leaving DA for ECNL in the north of the USA, pending decisions by Concorde??? Now what? Isn't this all enough?

Oraclesfriend, I have learned so much from SoccerMom, Futsal Gawdess and Soccerhouse from this last year. GA youth soccer has gone in so many directions since the coming of Atlanta United. I say this is the starting point for all the madness and whirlwind or tsunami wave with Girls and Boys DA/ECNL/NL/RPL/Classic/Athena that everyone is like which way is the best for my child? Regardless of the different views, I have found that SoccerMom, Futsal Gawdess and Soccerhouse are all knowledgeable and are plugged in for sure!

I have allowed my kid to make her decision every year of where she wants to play. I don't push her in any direction, because she's a teenager and she will just do the opposite.

This is all so insane. Tryouts are going to be a nightmare! Boys already have a huge shake up going on with 04s dropping from 7 DA clubs to 3 and 03s having to deal with the dual age group competition. Now girls don't know whether DA or ECNL is really going to be the "better" league going forward and what clubs will even have either distinction. And even the good non DA/ECNL teams don't know what to expect from the new RPL/NL or Champions League. Then next year's tryouts will still be a zoo because there will be a bounce back effect after the dust settles and people start to figure out the "new" landscape. My advice to myself is to stay put and just let all this unfold. My kids are happy where they are. I can't promise them a better path anywhere else with all this going on so why mess with a good thing until it's not a good thing. My other advice to myself might be to step away from the forum for a little bit

The best thing to do for now is just wait until the dust settles and then make a decision. Unfortunately we as parents don't have much control of what the clubs do, but we can make a decision once we have all the facts and options laid out

My other advice to myself might be to step away from the forum for a little bit Understood, I think we ALL feel the same way. Please go with your Heart and do what's best for your child! Maybe you can explain to them what is going on with all of these changes. Unfortunately, we are seeing what the Love of Money and Power is doing to this great game and not only does it affect our children but us PARENTS as well! Honestly, find out where your child's heart is and help them decide where to go. We all understand where you are coming from as this is the reason for being here. You want to help pave the way to reach their dreams. The nature of this "Not for profit business" is just humorous. No matter what club or who you talk to Coaches/DOC's running the club/teams will tell you they are offering is the best thing for your child to be in. I have noticed that each Club is trying to be different in some way. It looks like the bigger clubs want to be in the most competitive leagues. It's my opinion that small clubs will create an environment that Players/Parents can Bond together and make this a friendly journey and make lifelong friends. That's great, but a competitive player should not stay comfortable if they want to play to be the best they can be. Look at professional players, they go to play at the highest level they can. Either the club/coach has to be competitive or the player has to go elsewhere to play against better teams. My son is a good example, as a child he had no clue about the youth soccer landscape, only what he was in at the time. He just wanted to be the best he could be and was working hard for it. He had drive to keep getting better and it was apparent that he can compete against competitive teams. However, the thought of leaving his friends was uncomfortable at first and even cried. I had to put my Parent Hat on and make a decision based on what I learned from this Forum because information is different between each club. Today, he is so glad that he choose to leave for Boys DA. In my opinion, there is no comparison to the other leagues. Yes, there are great players/teams all over GA but DA has the big clubs like MLS. Until my Son plays for Atlanta United, I have to continue to pay to play. I'm good with that as long as he keeps growing and is getting better. It's fun to see him play against teams like Atlanta United, New York City FC, UFA and Concorde DA too.

Interesting -- sounds like they are moving the direction of catering more to their top players vs every kid on every team. Which is what they seem to care about. Maybe do more with their "special" players and have different things geared towards them... Just throwing things out there.

I guess that may explain the rumored Parent/Player meeting with TA being held next Wednesday with the U14s at AU. It is either to give parents/players an inkling of what's to come for next year or is that the first salvo in the non-retention process??? If the actions of last year are any indication, this was the meeting TA had with the then U12s(2004s) to tell them... Hey, you have the next 4-6 games to show why you should be retained or not. Frankly, I think they already know who they are going to cut. What worries me is that if that is the directive again this year, it leads to great soccer from some and really selfish(me, myself and I) soccer from others since they feel showing their individual skills trumps really good team soccer. I guess we shall find out in under a week what the mandate from the Head Honcho is. Will keep you posted.

Based on internal communications with AU, the overriding goal every year is to trim the fat of no more than 10 - 23 %. Yes you read that right. It's based on metrics within the MLS and how completely overhauling a team is statistically more disadvantageous... blah blah blah. On a team of 20 boys 2 - 5 boys potentially being cut.

I have been trying to read a lot of the comments and information being given out about this new league(CL). So here are my questions/comments. Please correct me where possible
- Members(CF/NTH/GSA/UFA/SSA + BUSA/CESA) - What age does this start, U12? - Both boys & girls? - Fall & Spring home/away, 12/12 games only per season? - One team per club, what about multiple locations? - Tryouts: DA/ECNL/CL and then regular Academy/Select? - Can CL players guest play with regular Academy/Select teams if they need players? - Post season? - Tournaments?
Those are the questions this momma has for now. thank you.

Word on the street is that it should be in the next week or two when clubs will announce the details. Hate to wait but I think it will be last minute as US Youth Soccer just created a buzz with the new announcement for National League! gasoccerforum.com/thread/2870/new-youth-national-leagues

I'm willing to bet this SCCL will be tabled, if the USYS designs their league to the liking of the big clubs.
For me personally, the new USYS NL Conference league would only be good if USYS does away with 2 divisions, and frankly disallow slots held by teams that did not earn the spots in the former SRPL.

Everything I'm being told is that SCCL is going forward regardless of the USYS league.

The new Concorde kit designs for next season show 4 league crests. I completely recognize the DA crest and the boys and girls ECNL crest but there is a 4th crest I can’t make out and it’s not SRPL so it must be Southern Club Champions League crest.

I would not expect an announcement untill after tryouts. They do not want their players heading to other clubs from what I have heard. That would actually be underhanded. I hope that will not happen. Our club already confirmed to me they were planning on doing this league. I am a TM and asked the coach. He told me "that's the plan." Just no details on how many teams from each club (i.e. whether different locations would have teams) and whether out of state teams were confirmed etc.

As a team manager have you been instructed to keep the team informed or to "wait till we have the details worked out". Just curious.

I am TM to an academy team, but that coach is coaching older teams and has been around the club for a long time. So it is not applicable to the team I manage, but it is for my older daughter hence why I asked. I trust that he is being truthful regarding the plan as it stood that day. Now I have been around long enough to know plans evolve so I expect there are details that I will hear later

The plan is for one team per club. The league is being viewed as just below DA, or if a club has DA and ECNL, just below them. But above Classic 1.
Now will all the teams be better than every club in Classic 1? No. But if the new league pulls kids from other clubs then that will change.
Hopefully all is clear by middle of next week. Also there was a mention earlier in this thread that the smaller clubs were going to counter with something. Curious about that as well.
