Officially, when will the issue with the Big 6 be announced. I'm assuming it's a done deal from my sources but I believe all parents should know the details prior to tryouts for the upcoming season?

I don’t think anyone has heard anything about it. Searching on the internet has turned up some hits but no information that leads to anything concrete. Here’s the Facebook link www.facebook.com/SoutheasternCCL/Here’s the GotSoccer tournament listing home.gotsoccer.com/rankings/event.aspx?EventID=65943Here’s the Internet website but currently down www.southeasternclubcl.com/

exactly, 5 or 6, what teams...... time to move from rumors to information. No club has announced to their members and only info is from this site. I'm a TM so have some info from our director but even that is confusing because we were told 6, lol

The url www.southeasternclubcl.com/ was created in February. If you search Southeaster club cl you get the following Google result: SOUTHEASTERN CLUB CHAMPIONS LEAGUE · Home · SCHEDULES · FIELDS · BYLAWS · RULES. TBA. Home. Schedules. Fields. Bylaws. Rules. Copyright © 2018. Home · SCHEDULES · FIELDS · BYLAWS · RULES. There is a screen captured page in Google cache but doesn't show anything and background image on the page is not a soccer image, so likely just a website theme file. What is interesting is the current cached page is built with Weebly. Not what I would expect. I would expect it to be a Blue Sombrero site.

Hey Soccer fans. I am new to this soccer blog and just love it. I am so happy to have found this and the other blog no longer around. I have heard that BUSA,Vistavia, and CESA are also on board with the Champions League. Has anyone else heard anything to this rumor?

I will try to find out about Vestavia and a timeline of announcement and let you know what I hear. But it is for sure for happening, and if it works out what I heard was that the other clubs will be invited in

That would be tons of travel for CESA and BUSA.

I agree. Tons of travel. Now look at it from their perspective. I have nothing to back this up other then 2 kids playing soccer. The better players tend to migrate to the bigger clubs. I do realize that smaller clubs do have some good players just not in quantity like the bigger clubs. If I am BUSA or CESA and have been playing in this SRPL mess for the last few years do I want to start playing the smaller teams which more then likely are not as good competition as the so called Big 5? Probably not. They (BUSA,CESA) realize that even the 2nd and 3rd teams are better competition for the programs. As far as travel goes I would rather be traveling to Birmingham from Metro Atlanta then to Tampa or Jacksonville. One thing for sure. I would love to see soccer go a few years without all the CHANGES. Every year something new. Its hard on the kids and parents.

That would be tons of travel for CESA and BUSA. I have heard BUSA and CESA also. What one of our club's top dogs said was "it is ridiculous for us to travel to Florida to play clubs from metro Atlanta." Many of the club's playing RPL were traveling to play their neighbors. CESA and BUSA will have to come here some, but BUSA' s top team is ECNL and they travel much further. Plus there are not enough quality clubs in Alabama that they probably travel a ton already. The new league isn't supposed to eliminate travel from the impression he gave me...just do travel that makes sense. Don't drive 8 hours to Orlando to play your neighboring clubs. Drive 2.5 hours to Birmingham...that isn't so terrible. It is further to Savannah and Augusta for many of us.

Knowing before tryouts would be awesome. I was looking at Concorde's tryout page the other day and they are still listing their teams as being RPL or SRPL. I have a friend whose son plays there on an SRPL team and they have not been told anything.

This is true but I dont think CESA or BUSA second teams presently qualify for any kind of travel league. This new league would give them travel, 5 weekends in Atlanta vs 1 at home, and will probably sold as a new elite travel league. It will be interesting to see the marketing angle that different clubs take. The big 5 in Atlanta will obviously be playing lesser competition than the prevoous year (that is the teams that were playing SRPL). I think they will market the convenience factor and not so much the quality of the competition. What really screws up the system is the exhistance of ECNL. Those teams should be in the top of SRPL. These are the teams that really need to travel to find equal competition. Then the second and third teams in Atlanta would be playing in an extremely competative Athena A or Clasic 1 and would 1: not have all the travel and 2: play in a league with relegation alowing all teams in Ga soccer a chance to compete against the best.

So let me get this straight --
These are five clubs that all have DA and/or ECNL.
So this league will be for their B teams? Or C teams?
And they're doing it so they don't have to drive to Savannah?

No. Many of the second and third teams are in RPL. Despite people's comments to the contrary, many of those teams qualified for RPL (some did not but used last year's results and kept their spot with other players). So those people are looking to not have to drive to Orlando or other Florida cities to play clubs from those states but also our own. My comment about Savannah is that most of the better teams in some neighboring states are closer than Savannah. Also I am not sure that this league will be 4-5 local games and one in Alabama and one at CESA. Who knows that for sure? Home and away would make more sense and would be set up more like ECNL.

Until there is an announcement (the point of this thread) no one knows for sure (unless they happen to be a DOC) what exactly this league will look like. We all want to know that but are waiting for some actual communication from the clubs so it isn't all guesswork and rumors.

Awesome, what teams/leagues did you have? Sorry, I played Football/Baseball/Basketball and soccer was unheard of in Atlanta. I’m sure it was 1 league with so many teams. 1 way to get to the top or College. Can we get your feedback on what it was like in the 80’s?

I'd always heard top hat and Concorde both came out of the Buckhead or Ashford y with a handshake agreement that top hat would be all girls and Concorde would be all boys.
